Transformation Project

Embarking on a journey through POS refresh, VM server setups, and infrastructure projects, our saga of accomplishments revolves around real-world solutions. A standout feat? Migrating Light speed POS to the Azure Microsoft Cloud, a move that reshaped our project landscape. Our approach was grounded in practicality, steering clear of unnecessary complexity. We began by handpicking POS vendors and crafting a straightforward governance structure for smooth project sailing. The grand plan involved refreshing 140 sites across Canada, managing costs with a simple breakdown. Guided by the principles of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), our status reports kept things on track without delving into unnecessary technical jargon. Steering Committee meetings were focused, installations went according to plan, and progress updates flowed seamlessly to stakeholders.

Beyond projects, we built relationships, smoothing things between suppliers and clients. Enter Microsoft Project, our trusty toolkit, used not for sophisticated strategies but for optimizing resources, breaking down work, and keeping budgets in check. Our financial routine included monthly vendor invoice checks for accuracy and adherence to payment terms. Monthly statement of work reviews were just another part of our commitment to straightforward project management. In a nutshell, our approach was about practical solutions, transparent communication, and keeping things straightforward in the realm of project mastery.

PCI compliance project

In the area of security projects, a successful stint in managing the PCI compliance project and a network overhaul to keep sensitive data under wraps. We got hands-on, roping in an IBM expert for the PCI compliance hustle. Think of it as a tech-savvy buddy helping us out. We led sessions, sketching out network diagrams like roadmaps, all to meet those PCI requirements. Data security policies? Yep, we made those to ensure everyone was on the same page. Setting up shop with a project governance structure, we had our roles and responsibilities laid out like a game plan. Keeping tabs on risks and scope creep became second nature, dealing with potential issues before they even blinked.

At the helm, we teamed up with the bigwigs and stakeholders, chatting about budgets, tracking, and cost-benefit stuff. We sorted out who's who, figured out what we needed, and made sure the pocket money was in order. Change control? Managed like a pro. We kept everyone in the loop, telling them how things were going. MS Project 2010 became our handy sidekick, helping us make sense of work breakdowns, schedules, and budgeting—nothing fancy, just the basics. We kept tabs and shared the deets with the VP/SVPs and the big bosses on the Board. Monthly vendor invoice checks were routine, making sure the numbers lined up and payments were on point.
